Our Story

It began with founder Ms. Fang Tao Jiang’s students.

One gifted young singer could not afford a tuxedo for a performance. Another, after winning a vocal competition, spent the night sleeping on an airport bench because he could not afford another night at a hotel. Talented students struggled to pay for voice lessons, while others were accepted into prestigious training programs in Italy but lacked the means to attend.

Yet these are exceptional young musicians—with extraordinary talent, passion, and determination. Many are students or graduates of leading institutions such as The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Royal College of Art, and Berklee College of Music.

For years, Ms. Jiang and her husband, Hal Edelman, quietly stepped in wherever they could—providing free voice lessons, helping with tuition and living expenses, supporting travel for auditions and competitions, funding study-abroad opportunities, and creating professional performance opportunities and artistic connections.

Again and again, they witnessed talented young musicians overcome periods of hardship, find their footing, and begin to flourish.

Believing in the power of community to nurture the next generation and keep the arts thriving, Ms. Jiang founded SolAria Music Foundation in 2025.
