Fang Tao Jiang, praised by chief music critic Anthony Tommasini of The New York Times as an “intensely expressive” soprano, made her debut at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium as the soprano soloist in Requiem. A top prize winner in numerous international vocal competitions, including the Bellini International Vocal Competition, she has appeared as a leading artist and soloist with renowned opera companies and orchestras worldwide, including Opéra National de Bordeaux, Teatro di San Carlo, Leipzig Opera, Santa Fe Opera, New York City Opera, Tokyo Opera, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and New Jersey Symphony, among others.
Her operatic repertoire includes Susanna, Ilia, Zerlina, Nanetta, Sophie, Lucia, Adina, Juliette, Norina, Gilda, Musetta, and Diane. A passionate recitalist, Ms. Jiang has performed at many of the world’s leading venues, including Carnegie Hall, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Wigmore Hall, Suntory Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, and New Jersey Performing Arts Center. In 2017, she was featured as a soloist in ten consecutive “Music Explorer” concert series presentations at Carnegie Hall. The National Opera Center featured her on its inaugural song album, and the National Arts Club honored her with the prestigious National Medal of Arts. Ms. Jiang has also been featured frequently on radio and television broadcasts, including WQXR, WNYC, WFMT, BBC Radio 3, RTÉ, CCBC, and SinoVision.
A strong advocate for contemporary music, Ms. Jiang’s notable projects include a featured appearance on the National Opera Center album American Songbook and acclaimed collaborations with award-winning composer Huang Ruo in Bound, An American Soldier, Angel Island, and Leaving Sao. Her solo album, On Wings of Song, was released in 2019 on the Rhymoi Music label and recorded with distinguished musicians and the Grammy Award–winning Attacca Quartet.
In addition to her performing career, Ms. Jiang is a sought-after voice teacher and active philanthropist. She is the founder and executive director of the SolAria Global Music Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing and supporting the next generation of musical talent while promoting the transformative power of live performance and music education. New York Concert Review wrote that “she is a force of nature—combining her musical, philanthropic, and personal gifts into one impressive package.” Building on her sold-out solo recital at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in 2025, Ms. Jiang is scheduled to present a solo recital at Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall, at 7:00 pm on October 24th, 2026.
